SOUTHWEST OHIO —

Turkey prices are higher because of a dry summer season, and now fuel prices are adding to the draining of wallets as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches.

“History will be broken as the national average will be the highest it’s ever been on Thanksgiving,” according to a release from analysts as GasBuddy.com, a website devoted to monitoring fuel costs across the United States.

Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan is estimating that the national average will sit at $3.43 per gallon on Thursday, some 10 cents higher than it was in 2011. In Cincinnati, gasoline prices currently stand at an average of $3.37 per gallon, compared to last Thanksgiving, when prices stood at an average of $3.13 per gallon.

Today, gas prices in Southwest Ohio appear to be on the rise about 10 to 20 cents since Monday.

GasBuddy analysts said wholesale gasoline prices rose on Monday, as did oil, and the stock market. The lowest price in the Miami Valley on Tuesday morning was reported at a BP station in Miamisburg, where a gallon of unleaded fuel was $3.25. A gallon at Murphy USA in Franklin was $3.49.

Those in southern Ohio were seeing cheaper prices, with $3.05 per gallon reported at Kroger on Terra Firma Drive in Mason, Warren County.

Gas at BP at the intersection of Oxford-Trenton and Huston roads in Oxford was reported at $3.59 per gallon of unleaded fuel.

Prices in Hamilton ranged from $3.35 to $3.49 per gallon. In Middletown prices on the lower end could be found at various stations on Breiel Boulevard at around $3.28 per gallon.

In the Clark County area, reported prices ranged from $3.35 per gallon to $3.59 per gallon of unleaded fuel in Springfield.
