PLEASANT TWP., Champaign County —

Fire and rescue crews responded to a semi tractor-trailer accident at Ohio 4 and 54 late Monday night.

Investigators said the semi was southbound on Ohio 4 when it went off the left side of the road. The truck crashed through a guardrail and went into a creek. It then caught fire.

A neighbor heard the crash, and came to the scene. He was able to pull the driver, identified as Garry L. Brunk, 46, of the Dayton area, out of the cab just before the entire rig was engulfed.

Brunk was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight. His condition was not immediately available.

The accident remains under investigation.
