Same man may be responsible for 2 convenience store robberies

Dayton police believe the same man may be responsible for two convenience store robberies from over the weekend.

The latest was reported around 10 a.m. Sunday when a clerk at the United Dairy Farmers store at 1943 E. Siebenthaler Ave. said a man stole two candy bars and an unknown amount of cash from a register.

The clerk was not hurt.

She said the suspect is a white male, about 6 feet tall and thin. He entered the store and was wearing a gray-colored T-shirt with writing on it, jeans and looked to be in his mid-20s. She said he picked up two candy bars and approached the register. He handed her a dollar and when the register opened he shoved the clerk out of the way with his body and grabbed an unknown amount of bills before fleeing on foot.

A K-9 unit responded to the scene but was unsuccessful in tracking a scent. Surveillance video showed the suspect was wearing a dark New York Yankees baseball cap with a Nike logo on the back. He was clean shaven with no tattoos.

Authorities believe he may also be responsible for a theft at the Rite-Aid store Saturday on nearby Dixie Drive. Surveillance footage from that incident showed that suspect was wearing a similar hat and shoes. In that case, the suspect almost went completely over the counter to take the money from the register.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police.
