The entrance ramp from Interstate 70 east to I-75 north is expected to be closed until at least 11:30 tonight following a wreck of a semi carrying vehicle parts.

The driver suffered minor injuries and a passenger was not injured at all when the semitrailer tipped onto its side as it came down the curved ramp, hit a guardrail and fell over when its cargo shifted at about 6:30 p.m., said Sgt. Steve Duteil, Dayton post Ohio Highway Patrol.

A preliminary investigation reveals that the driver, who was not identified by name, was going too fast on the incline and over-corrected after striking the guardrail. That left the cab and trailer on its side, hanging over the guardrail, partially on the embankment.

“Going too fast for the conditions and the kind of load he was carrying, that’s what it appeared to be,” Duteil said.

The driver will be cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, the sergeant said.

Workers with the Ohio Department of Transportation set up signs to redirect traffic to allow a heavy wrecker to come in and right the vehicle. The ramp was expected to be shut down at least four hours, Duteil said.
