Man shot in Piqua, gunman on the run

PIQUA, Oh —

An Indiana man is no longer a "person of interest."  Aaron Tubbs is now wanted by Piqua police on felonious assault.

Police in Piqua said they are investigating a shooting that happened Monday night on Forest Avenue in the area of Fountain Park around 6:30 p.m.

According to police, the victim, Michael Butts, 22, Piqua, was shot at least four times.  He was first rushed to Upper Valley Medical Center near Troy and then immediately transferred by a ground unit to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.  The hospital is not releasing his condition.

Police said they have now filed a charge of felonious assault against a man they identified as Aaron D. Tubbs, 27,  of near Fort Wayne, Ind.  A warrant is issued for his arrest.  He is no longer a "person of interest," but now a wanted individual.

He is a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs around 146 pounds.  He is known to travel between Ft. Wayne and Piqua.

According to information on a flyer being circulated by Piqua police, Tubbs was last seen in the area of the shooting with multiple occupants.  The vehicle description is a black Cadillac, Indiana license plate JS9923.

A neighbor told News Center 7 that the victim was moving around after getting out of his car and laying down on the street until help arrived.

Deputy Chief Marty Grove of the Piqua Police Department said, "Muliple shots were fired."

The shooter fled the area in a car.  He is yet to be apprehended by police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Piqua Police at (937)778-2027, or (937)615-TIPS (8477). Approach with caution he is possibly armed and dangerous. A reward is available for in formation leading to his arrest and conviction.
