Equipment fire leads to business evacuation

Staff Report

HUBER HEIGHTS —

A portable dust collector that apparently caught fire led to an evacuation at a tool business Wednesday morning.

An estimated 40 people exited Adena Tool Corp. and Tipp Machine and Tool Inc., at 4201 Little York Road, while fire crews responded around 8 a.m.

Fire officials said employees tried to use extinguishers to stop a portable dust collector from smoking before the Butler and Vandalia fire departments arrived on scene.

Employees used a forklift to remove the collector from the building.

Firefighters were able to ventilate and clear the building.
