Springfield woman charged with child endangering

CLARK COUNTY —

A Springfield woman is charged with child endangering after leaving her children alone in a vehicle, said Clark County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Clark County deputies arrived at the Krogers supermarket at 2728 East Main Street in Springfield at 6:14 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6. Deputies find two small children inside a vehicle after a concerned citizen called deputies. A four-year-old tells deputies that his mother was inside the store, said the release.

The children’s mother, Andrea Knisley, 21, of Springfield, walks out the store about 5 minutes later. Knisley talked with deputies about how long her children had been left unattended and she told deputies about 15 minutes.

Knisley said she did not want to leave the children alone but because of mechanical problems with the vehicle and she had to leave it running.” She also told deputies that she did not want anyone to steal her vehicle, according to the release.

The 4-year-old and the 5-month-old were released to a family member. Knisley was arrested and was in custody at the Clark County Jail for two counts of child endangering and was released at 8:11 p.m. on Tuesday.
