State gets nearly 500K absentee ballot requests

Staff Report

An estimated 484,000 absentee ballot applications have been received by Ohio’s county boards of elections.

Secretary of State Jon Husted announced Tuesday the applications include 8,600 requests by those in the military or voting overseas.

The ballots will be mailed out beginning Saturday, Sept. 22 to those overseas, and Oct. 2 to those in the United States.

“We expect that many Ohioans will take advantage of the opportunity to vote by mail this year,” Husted said in a release. “By requesting an absentee ballot, voters can avoid the lines and have their say without ever having to leave their homes.”

Absentee ballot applications must be received by boards of election by noon Nov. 3.
