Staff Report

RIVERSIDE, Ohio —

A 21-year-old suspect arrested in this city's first homicide of 2012, which authorities say he has confessed to, now is being linked to the Dayton area Black Gangster Disciples.

And in another development announced late Thursday afternoon, authorities said they are seeking two persons of interest in that first homicide of the year in Riverside, the June 15 shooting of a man in an apartment at 4217 Amston Drive.

James Dunson and Aaron Baker are the persons of interest in that killing, Riverside police said.

Dunson and Baker emerged as added parts of the case hours after the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team went to a home on North Union Road in Englewood on Thursday morning and arrested Richard A. Western on a warrant accusing him of probation violation stemming from a robbery.

He was questioned, and according to police, confessed to the June 15 killing of Geoffrey Andrews, 20.

Western, who goes by the name of "Chicago" through his association with the gang, is accused of walking into the apartment at about around 11:15 p.m. and firing a handgun several times.

“He fired several shots, killed a victim," Riverside police Chief Mark Reiss said. “He and two other individuals took off to a car waiting in the area.”

Dunson and Baker presumably were the two individuals in the car that was waiting.

Reiss said Andrews was with two other friends when the assailant came to the door. When the suspect knocked, Reiss said, one of the friends opened the door.

Andrews was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital.

Western is now in the Montgomery County Jail on a charge of murder as well as the probation violation.
