XENIA —

Central State University police are increasing patrols after reports a student there was raped.

A suspect in the alleged rape was in court today and is not a CSU student, police said. Richard Sweeney II is charged Sweeney with rape, attempted rape and gross sexual imposition. He was arrested Nov. 18 after a female student told police Sweeney assaulted her early that morning on campus.

Sweeney told police the sexual encounter was consensual.

An exam at a local hospital revealed the victim showed signs of forced sexual conduct.

Sweeney is being held in Greene County Jail.
