Suspects sought in two armed robberies

DAYTON —

Dayton police believe the same suspects may be responsible for two armed robberies taking place around North Main Street since July 1.

In both incidents, the victims have been robbed by a man and at least one woman who pulled up in a black Chevy SUV and used a gun to demand everything in the victim’s pockets, according to police reports.

The most recent robbery occurred on Monday evening in the 3700 block of North Main. The victim told police that he was walking northbound when an SUV with squealing brakes pulled up next to him.

The driver said something he couldn’t hear, but when he moved closer the young man pulled a gun on him, according to a Dayton Police incident report. The victim said he was told to empty his pockets and walk away, which he did.

He described the driver as a black man in his early 20s, approximately 5 feet 9 or 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build and short hair. The suspect had full sleeves of tattoos on both arms, including a globe tattoo on his upper right arm, according to the report. The young woman in the passenger seat was described as 5 foot 6 inches tall with a thin build. The victim told police she was wearing a red Polo hat, a white tank top and shorts, which he described as “dressed like a boy.”

In a similar incident a few blocks south on July 1, two men were walking eastbound on West Parkwood Drive when an SUV pulled up and the male driver began talking to them.

The driver was similarly described and had two women with him in the car.

One victim told police that he began to back away when he spotted a gun in the car, but the driver jumped out of the vehicle pointed a different gun at the men and demanded what was in their pockets.

According to the report, the suspect fired one shot into the air and police were able to recover one round from the street. One of the women jumped out of the car and gathered the victim’s money from the ground.

In both cases the suspects got away with more than $100 in cash.
