Task force apprehends child rape suspect

DAYTON —

A suspect wanted for child rape was apprehended today by the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team.

Matthew J. Callahan was arrested at his Notre Dame Avenue residence. His indictments include importuning, public indecency, two counts of raping a child under age 10 and two counts of gross sexual imposition of a child under age 13.

The task force members took Callahan into custody without incident. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail pending further court proceedings.

The arresting task force, SOFAST, includes members from the U.S. Marshals, Dayton Police, Springfield Police, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Clark County Sheriff's Office, Ohio Adult Parole Authority, Greene County Prosecutors Office, Miami County Sheriff's Office and Wright State University Police.
