Traced cell phone leads police to robbery arrests

Staff Report

Dayton police on Saturday were able to arrest two men after a cell phone they allegedly stole was traced and effectively led police to the suspects’ door.

LaQuinn Demone Davis, 23, and Patrick D. Wilkerson, 19, were both arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on the suspicion of charges that each included aggravated burglary.

The accusers, who are 18 and 19 years old, told police they dropped off a friend late Friday night at her house around the intersection of Huron and Fairbanks avenues. According to a police report obtained Sunday, they were standing outside of the car talking when they were approached by two men, who subsequently robbed them of miscellaneous personal property.

Afterward, the mother of one of the accusers traced the stolen phone and it was located around the 1700 block of Germantown Street, according to the report. While en route, Dayton police noticed several people in the area, including two individuals who matched suspect descriptions provided to police.

As officers made contact, a police sergeant called the accuser’s cell phone and saw that it started ringing. The phone was found against the wall just south of the door at 800 Wilberforce Pl., behind a small grill, according to the report.

Davis and Wilkerson were taken into custody for questioning and then booked into the jail. An evidence crew responding to the scene, according to the report.
