Staff Report
DAYTON —
A University of Dayton student was robbed of his wallet and prescription medication by a man with a gun as he was parking his car in the Fairgrounds neighborhood Tuesday morning.
The student told officers that he was sitting in his car and placing some items in his backpack to go to class at about 6:30 a.m. when a man approached the driver’s side door and pointed a semi-automatic handgun at him. The man said, “Give me your money and the prescription,” according to a Dayton Police incident report.
The robbery happened near the intersection of Jasper and Rubicon streets.
A police K-9 unit was called to track the suspect, who fled westbound on Jasper and then ran north. The dog tracked the man’s scent to the Denny’s restaurant on South Main Street, but he was not located.
The only description the victim could give was that the man was “unkempt and homeless looking”, according to the report.
The suspect got away with $10, the victim’s IDs and debit card and 20 pills of an unidentified medication.
