Unofficial tally: Voters pass 3 of 6 school levies

Staff Report

MIAMI VALLEY —

Half of the six school levies on Tuesday’s ballot passed, according to unofficial final results from the Montgomery County Board of Elections, with just one of four bids for new money among them.

In Xenia, voters rejected a 1.5 percent earned income tax for operating expenses that would replace a 0.5 percent standard income tax. The vote: 26 percent to 74 percent.

In Vandalia-Butler, a 6.99-mill operating and permanent improvement levy failed 44 percent to 56 percent.

In Tipp City, a five-year, 7.95-mill emergency levy on the ballot was rejected 37 percent to 63 percent.

In Northmont, voters renewed the district’s five-year, 5.9-mill operating levy 68percent to 32 percent.

In Bethel, the district saw both of its levies pass.

One was a five-year, 2-mill permanent improvement renewal levy and the other was a five-year, 7-mill replacement levy for operations. The renewal vote was 57 percent to 43 percent. The replacement vote: 52 percent to 48 percent.
