U.S. 127 briefly shut down in Preble County

By Breaking News Staff

PREBLE COUNTY —

Part of U.S. 127 was shut down in Preble County Saturday evening after a crash that sent two women to a local hospital.

The crash happened at about 6:45 p.m. near Antioch Road. Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Walter Greene said a Pontiac G6 was northbound when it was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Silverado. Greene said the Pontiac was slowing down because a vehicle ahead was making a turn onto Antioch. The driver of the Silverado was later cited for not maintaining a safe distance between his truck and the Pontiac.

Two women inside the Pontiac were taken to Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind. Their injuries were not serious, Greene said.

After they were taken to the hospital, troopers shut down the road for about 45 minutes in order for tow trucks to remove both vehicles from the scene.
