DAYTON —

Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio and locked out members of Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) Local 175 will meet with a federal mediator Monday, the company said Friday.

Vectren spokeswoman Chase Kelley said the meeting was aimed at “continuing the dialog and see if we can get our people back to work.”

It’s the only meeting scheduled at the moment, she said.

On Nov. 16, workers Friday set up informational pickets at utility locations around Dayton after a lockout by the company.

Vectren said the union rejected its last offer for a new contract for nearly 130 members. Vectren added that it put staff in place to “ensure safe a reliable natural gas service continues for its customers.”

Union president Kelly Cooper said the meeting will be at the federal mediator’s office on Poe Avenue in Dayton.

“We’re hopeful in being successful in reaching resolution to the company’s lockout,” he said.

Among the labor issues outstanding are which workers are designated to respond to reports of gas leaks, the union and the company have said.
