DARKE COUNTY, Ohio —

A serious crash left one person dead and two injured in Darke County.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Richmond-Palestine Road and Rush Road.

The Darke County Sheriff's Department said Mary E. Behee, 85, of New Madison, was driving a tan Chrysler 300M westbound on Rush Road approaching the stop sign at Richmond-Palestine Road.

Matthias R. Bowser, 16, of New Paris, was driving a light blue Chevy Suburban northbound on Richmond-Palestine Road when Behee's vehicle went through the intersection and was struck on the driver's side by Bowser's vehicle.

Bowser's vehicle came to rest in the intersection.  Behee's vehicle traveled off the roadway and came to rest in a field, deputies said.

CareFlight was called to the scene, but could not fly due to weather conditions. Behee was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bowser was transported to Wayne HelathCare by Tri-Village Rescue where he was treated and released.

Behee's husband, Wells E. Behee, 86, was also in the vehicle with her and was transported to Wayne HealthCare, where he is listed in serious condition.
