DAYTON —

Main Street was shut down Thursday night between Wyoming Street and Fairground Avenue after a driver apparently had a medical emergency and crashed into oncoming traffic.

Dayton police remained on scene for hours investigating what appeared to be a minor crash that occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on South Main and Frank Street.

The driver of a sport utility vehicle going south on Main veered into northbound traffic and struck a vehicle. The driver appeared to have a medical emergency which caused him to lose control of the vehicle, according to a Dayton fire official.

Though the crash caused little damage to the vehicles, police said officers are investigating it as a possible fatal crash.
