Staff Report
DAYTON —
A week after being in a hospital for surgery, a man using a walker was robbed of $700 at gunpoint Friday morning.
The 54-year-old South Findley Street resident told Dayton police he went for his morning walk at about 8:15 a.m. and was stopped by a man in his early 20s who pulled a black handgun, possibly a .38-caliber revolver, according to a police incident report.
The suspect, described as wearing a blue hoodie, 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 170 pounds, reached into the victim’s front pocket and removed $700 in cash, according to the report. The victim told police the money was from his disability check, which he had cashed to pay bills.
Police said the victim showed officers a large scar on his knee from the recent surgery and said he could only stand there leaning on his walker while he was robbed.
