Man accused of causing a death in July crash

DAYTON —

A 26-year-old man is facing several charges for his alleged role in a July 2012 fatal crash in Miamisburg.

Joseph C. McGraw, of Dayton, has been indicted on two counts each of aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, vehicular assault, operating a vehicle under the influence and one count of failure to stop after an accident, the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.

McGraw is to be arraigned Jan. 24.

Investigators said that on the afternoon of July 16, McGraw was headed south on Interstate 75 and exited at Ohio 725 where he ran a red light and caused a crash involving four other vehicles.

McGraw then got back on the highway where he abandoned his vehicle and fled with a passenger, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Robert J. Halsall, a 68-year-old Fairborn resident, was killed in the crash.
