FAIRBORN, Ohio —
Fairborn police said a 26-year-old Fairborn man late to return his mother’s truck faked a robbery.
Joshua Helton, 26, is facing one count each of offenses involving underage persons, falsification and making false alarms, according to a police report. All three charges are first-degree misdemeanors.
Fairborn police Sgt. Paul Hicks said Helton was late returning his mom’s truck back to her, so he called her and said the store he was in was being robbed.
The mother then called 911 to report it.
Police responded to the Ameristop Food Market located at 504 S. Maple Ave. in Fairborn and were surprised to learn the store was not being robbed.
The police and store were both surprised.
