Staff Report
DAYTON —
A man remains in the hospital after being shot several times and Dayton police believe the incident is related to a car jacking in Harrison Twp.
Police discovered the 42-year-old was shot seven times, four in the right leg and three in the left leg, around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 5100 block of Prescott Avenue, according to the Dayton police report.
The victim told police he was shot in a field at the end of Prescott Avenue while running away from a man who robbed him after he had given the shooter and another man a ride.
The victim reported that he first saw the two men exiting a dark colored Honda at the Northcrest Garden Apartments, where they asked him for a ride.
Police said the Honda was the same vehicle taken in a car jacking hours earlier at the Video News store, 3900 N. Main St.
The victim managed to get away and drive to a family member’s home, where police were called. He remains in Miami Valley Hospital but his condition is not being released.
The suspect was described as a light-skinned black male, approximately 6-foot-1 inch tall and 160 pounds, who walks with a limp from being shot before, according to the report.
