Man Killed In Possible Love Triangle

By Mike Campbell

DAYTON, Ohio —

A man was shot and killed in the front yard of a home in the 400 block of North Garland Avenue in Dayton early Friday Morning.

Police officers went to the home about 12:30 a.m. after receiving emergency calls.

They discovered Troy Darnell Bray, 39, on the front lawn, shot at least once in the chest.

Paramedics rushed Bray to the hospital but doctors could not save him. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Investigators say this may all be the result of a love triangle.

Sgt. Chris Fischer said, "It looks to be something like that, yes. Things are sketchy. It looks to be a boyfriend-girlfriend thing, at least looks to be, and we had an ex-boyfriend and a current boyfriend on the scene."

The suspect was being questioned by police Friday morning.

Officers said the woman who lives in the home witnessed some or all of what happened. Homicide detectives are expected to talk with her as well.

Police said they were told one of the men was inside the home with the woman and then hid in the closet when the second man arrived. The two men eventually got into an argument. The discussion apparently turned heated and moved outside into the yard where at least one shot was fired.

The man officers detained for questioning indicated this might be a case of self-defense.

Sgt.Fischer said, "Just one weapon involved that we know of. It appears our victim was unarmed. We have the weapon and the suspect."

Police have not announced any arrests in the case and may just forward all the information they gather to the prosecutors office to be evaluated for possible charges.
