Man Passing Fake $100 Bills In Local Stores

Federal authorities are joining the hunt for a man police said is passing fake $100 bills at local stores.

Huber Heights police released surveillance video of the suspect using the counterfeit money.

The man walked into the Walmart on Brandt Pike last month with what detectives said were multiple counterfeit $100 bills.

Authorities said the suspect shopped around on March 12 and he finally selected three gift cards and headed to the cash register. The man paid for the cards with three $100 bills.

At the time, the clerk did not suspect anything was wrong and officials said the man successfully purchased the gift cards and left the store.

It was only later that store employees realized that the bills were fake.

The suspect was described as a medium-complected black male in his late twenties to early thirties. Officers said they believe he was involved in other instances where counterfeit bills were passed at other local stores.

Authorities are cautioning local merchants to be vigilant when they are inspecting large bills during sales transactions.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect in the video should call the Huber Heights Police at 233-1565.
