DAYTON —

Police are searching for a man suspected of robbing a woman at gunpoint while she was cleaning out her garage.

Around noon today, a woman was inside her garage in the 5100 block of West Hillcrest Avenue when she was approached by a man with a gun, according to reports. The man demanded cash and jewelry, and went through several rooms of the home.

The gunman forced the victim to go down to the basement while he ransacked the home, according to the Dayton police report. After several minutes, the victim fled the basement and ran to a neighbor’s house where she called police, according to the report.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and a blue hat, police said.

The suspect fled, but has not been located.
