Man Says He Shot Estranged Wife In Champaign Co.

CHAMPAIGN CO., Ohio —

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that sent the gunman’s estranged wife to a hospital.

Authorities said they were called to the 4900 block of County Line Road on a report of an accidental shooting. Authorities said they arrived and found 42-year-old Carolyn Havens lying outside with a gunshot wound to her chest area.

Deputies said 38-year-old Tim Havens, the victim’s estranged husband, said he accidentally shot his wife.

According to deputies, the woman has an active restraining order against her estranged husband. They said he was charged with domestic violence against her in July.

Authorities took the husband into custody for further questioning. They said he could face charges for breaking a restraining order.

Careflight flew his wife to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
