Man Seen Lurking Outside Piqua Homes

PIQUA, Ohio —

Police in Piqua are looking for a peeping tom who residents said is lurking in a local neighborhood.

A woman said she first spotted the man outside her window on New Haven Road on Saturday night. The woman told News Center 7 that she fought back.

The victim told News Center 7 that she has not had a good night’s sleep since Saturday and she and other residents are worried about what could happen if the peeping tom returns.

It was a typical Saturday night for Wendy Sage, but she quickly discovered she was not alone. “I put everybody to bed and then went to bed myself,” she said.

Sage she just happened to see a shadow and it moved, and said a man was crouched down outside her window.

The man looked in as Sage lay in bed. She was scared for a minute, but hen the mother of six thought of her sleeping children and pushed through the screen, grabbing at the man who was peering in.

“Your adrenaline gets going and I didn’t even thing about what I was doing,” Sage said.

The man ran away, but police said they believe he has been there before.

“About 10 minutes later, another person called in," Chief Deputy Tom Christy said.

Authorities said the man has been spotted by at least two other people and said it is possible that he could be casing homes for possible thefts.

However, Sage believes that the man was after something more. She is now telling other residents should be on alert.

“There are a lot of kids around here and a lot of single women. I just want people to turn on their porch lights, be aware and help find this guy,” Sage said.

The man is described as being in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a dark shirt and shorts. If you have any information about this case, contact Piqua police at 779-2027.
