DAYTON, Ohio —

Police in Dayton are searching for two men who they said pulled off an armed robbery on Monday morning.

Investigators said the suspects’ getaway quickly turned into a high-speed chase down Interstate 75 and through two neighborhoods. Officers said the chase ended on Gettysburg Avenue near Nicholas Street on the city’s west side.

Police said the chase began at a market with an early-morning robbery. Police said when officers responded to the scene, the chase was on and reached speeds of 80 mph.

Sgt. Judy Abshire said the man driving the vehicle tried to slam into her cruiser with the suspects' stolen vehicle.

Abshire said, “I pulled my cruiser up across the lanes of traffic to block him and he continued to come straight at me. He never swerved and never tried to get out of the way. He was going to ram me.”

Investigators said Abshire moved her cruiser at the last minute and caught up with the van on Gettysburg. They said one of the men was caught and is now facing charges.

Officers said they found a gun in the van, along with items stolen from the market. They also said a large stash of cash was found.

The search continues for two other men.
