TROY, Ohio —

Investigators said a man who escaped from the Miami County Incarceration facility is headed back to prison.

On Thursday, Elmer Coffey was sentenced to 14 years in prison. The 36-year-old Kentucky man escaped the facility in August, broke into a woman’s home, tied her up and stole her car and cell phone.

Earlier this month, a jury convicted Coffey of escape, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, kidnapping and theft. On Thursday, Coffey apologized to his victim.

Officials said the case could be headed for an appeal.
