WAYNESFIELD, Ohio —

While participating in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" national campaign, the Waynesfield Police Department arrested two individuals on felony drug charges
after stopping a vehicle late Friday night.

Mark Fletcher, 40, from Mansfield, was arrested for assembly or possession of chemicals to make methamphetamines - a 2nd degree felony.  Joanna Schaub, 34, of Lexington, was arrested for drug possession of a schedule II drug,  a 5th degree felony. Both are currently in the Auglaize County Jail in Wapakoneta awaiting their initial hearing.

At approximately 10:58 p.m., officers noticed a blue Chevrolet Blazer driving with a rear license plate that was not legible. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers noticed several criminal indicators that led to using Yukon, the department's K-9, to perform a narcotics sniff.

After the K-9 gave a positive indication on the presence of the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle, officers removed Fletcher, Schaub, and Schaub's 13-year old daughter from the vehicle to conduct a vehicle search. The search revealed a red, soft-sided lunch box that contained all the materials needed to make methamphetamines.

"Our officers have been especially vigilant during the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign," Waynesfield Police Chief Nathan Motter said. "We simply do not tolerate impaired driving. And while we were out aggressively looking to combat that problem, we were able to uncover a potentially deadly meth lab."

Chief Motter said that the investigation revealed that Fletcher and Schaub were taking the 13-year-old to a residence between Waynesfield and Uniopolis and they were then going to continue to a Wapakoneta hotel.

It is unclear if  Fletcher and Schaub were planning to cook methamphetamines at the hotel.

Deputies from the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office and members from the Auglaize-Mercer County Grand Lake Drug Task Force assisted with the case.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
