Montgomery County Veterans Service Commission - May 2, 2010

This episode of WHIO Reports will focus on the unemployment options for local returning veterans. The Montgomery County Veterans Service Commission offers referrals and assists the veterans in finding jobs that match their skills. This service also offers options to veterans with disabilities that have returned to the Miami Valley area with this huge adjustment. Re-learning job skills such as job interviewing and verbal and non-verbal communication is encouraged since these veterans have been out of the job force for the past couple of years. The guests discuss the benefits that many veterans are unaware of when they return home, such as going back to school and getting home loans, depending on how long they have served. With a new generation of people coming through this process, the expectations the Veterans Service Commission has is to help these veterans back into the civilian community and learn about their benefits.
