Sunday is expected to be breezy with rain that will taper eventually taper off.

SOUTHWEST OHIO —

Rain showers will continue this evening with the majority of the next wave hitting south of Interstate 70 during the evening commute and into early evening.

Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson said spotty showers will continue overnight, but it will be mostly dry through tomorrow.

He said temperatures will not drop much overnight and then will rise back into the low to mid 50s by sunrise tomorrow.

“The breeze likely picks up a bit tomorrow and that will help us hit the low 60s (tomorrow) with just a little sun from time to time,” Simpson said.

The record high for Jan. 29 is 66 degrees and we may get to within a few degrees of that record.

“(Tuesday) is the day to enjoy the rest of the week, because Wednesday is windy, wet, then cold and snowy,” Simpson said.

Steadier, and perhaps at times heavy rain will be with us Wednesday morning, possibly having a significant impact on the morning commute. A few rumbles of thunder are also possible. Winds may gust up to 30-40 mph Wednesday morning as well.

A cold front moves through midday or so and temperatures will drop drastically.

“We’ll have a morning commute in the 50s, and an evening commute in the 30s, but not drop below freezing until later in the evening,” Simpson said.

There will be a break from the rain sometime in the afternoon, but it will pick back up in sometime in the evening. “So not only do we drop below freezing later Wednesday evening, but we’ll get some snow showers as well. Initially these will have a hard time making roads slick due to the warmth tomorrow and early Wednesday, but at some point towards midnight or overnight we may start to get some slick spots.”

“One other thing we’ll need to watch is the rain from today and especially Wednesday will wash most if not all of the salt away. So crews will need to treat again,” Simpson said.

A few more snow showers are possible Thursday followed by quiet weather Friday with some sun.

“We’ll stay below freezing until some time next week after we drop below 32 Wednesday night,” Simpson said.
