DAYTON, Ohio —

A Dayton motel worker has been accused of allowing prostitution in his motel.

Police said the man even solicited sex from an undercover police officer who was posing as a prostitute.

Amit Patel, 42, who reportedly works at the Royal Motel on North Keowee Street, was arrested Tuesday night during a sex sting operation.

Patel was charged with soliciting and promoting prostitution.

According to undercover officers, Patel allowed prostitution to take place inside one of the motel rooms. The report also said Patel arranged to pay an undercover officer posing as a prostitute $20 for a sex act.

Some motel employees said Patel was in the room to fix a broken sink and that the situation is a big misunderstanding.

Authorities said they have filed paperwork to shut down the Royal Motel.
