Mother Accused Of Killing Daughter Gets $1 Million Bond

Authorities in Dayton said a mother accused of killing her 3-week-old daughter appeared in court Tuesday afternoon and was given a $1 million bond on charges of aggravated murder.

Investigators said China Arnold, 26, was taken into custody on Monday in connection with the child’s death more than a year ago.

According to police, detectives received some information last month that the child, Paris Talley, may have been fatally burned from an appliance in August of 2005.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office said they suspect that the child was killed after she was allegedly put in a microwave by her mother. Director Ken Betz said the conclusion is supported by evidence collected by police.

Arnold’s attorney Jon Paul Rion said his client denies having anything to do with her daughter’s death. He said Arnold was stunned when she learned that a microwave may have been used.

The coroner’s office said that there was no indication of external burns on the child’s body. Upon further investigation, the coroner’s office discovered that severe internal heat injuries.

The father of the child, Terrell Talley, said he wants justice. Arnold's family said that their loved one is not capable of such a crime.

Rion entered a not guilty plea on Arnold's behalf.
