National City Mortgage To Cut Jobs

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio —

The long awaited merger of two major banks will mean employees will see jobs eliminated.

When PNC Bank bought National City some job loss was expected with the merger.

PNC informed the state Tuesday that the company is eliminating 74 jobs.

Those jobs are coming from the National City Mortgage office on Newmark Street in Miami Township.

PNC declined to comment on camera, but said in its filing with the state that the company is consolidating divisions.

Montgomery County is stepping forward through the job center to help people who are receiving layoff notices.

“We have a job bank. We have experts to help you get started in your jobs search. It’s really important to treat your job search as if it were a job and make it full-time. Make sure you’re on top of your industry and back being employed as soon as possible,” said Ann Stevens from Job and Family Services.

The job loss is being phased in, which will start in September and running through the end of the year.
