The scholarships will be awarded to students graduating in the class of 2006 who are scheduled to attend a two or four year college or university. The total amount available for each scholarship is $4,000 over a four-year period to be awarded each year to the recipient's school of choice.

Applicants must have passed all parts of the 9th grade proficiency exam prior to applying.

Two NewsCenter 7/Dayton Urban League scholars will be selected annually. High school students who may be interested in the scholarship are encourage to get involved with the Dayton Urban League.

Payment of the scholarship will be made directly to the University on a semester or quarterly basis. Recipients must provide proof of registration.

Finalists will be invited to attend the Dayton Urban League Annual Dinner on May 9, 2006. The winners will be announced during this event. The deadline for submitting applications is March 31, 2006.

The following is the criteria for applying:

G.P.A -- One scholarship min 2.5. One scholarship min 3.5. Involvement in extra curricular activities or employment. Also, school or teacher recommendation and a writtin essay on a specified topic. Also, a personal interview will be conducted and a complete application must be submitted.
