From the old to the latest in electric distribution

The old Piqua electric plant will be torn down eventually

PIQUA, Ohio —

The ribbon was cut, and a proclamation from the Ohio State Senate and House of Representative handed over to city officials marked the official opening of  the new Piqua Municipal Power System Distribution Center on Hemm Ave. in Piqua.

The 40,000 square foot 4.3 million dollar facaility replaced the old power plant a few blocks away on South Main Street that was built in the 1930's.

The old plant will eventually be torned down in two phases pending the possibility of getting grants from the state of  Ohio for demolition.
