One Death Confirmed In Clark Co. Crash

CLARK CO., Ohio —

Around noon Saturday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said a car collided with a minivan at the intersection of State Routes 235 and 41 in Pike Township, west of North Hampton.

The car's driver, Christopher Heckert, 39, Van Wert, was not wearing a seat belt and airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital in critical condition. Heckert died at the hospital from injuries sustained during the crash, the Montgomery County Coroner's Office said.

The minivan, with two adults and six children rolled. They included the driver, Heather Littrell, 30, Troy. Passengers in the van included Ashley Littrell, 13, Troy, Amanda Mikel, 13, Troy, Nathan Littrell, 8, Troy, Ashley Roussel, 26, Arcanum, Adam Malone, 13, Martinsville, Johnny Cohmer, 9, Martinsville and Shilie Cohmer, 7, also of Martinsville.

Sgt. Yvonne Thorne said, "Had they not been wearing seat belts this could have been much more serious than what it was."

None of the eight people in the minivan suffered life threatening injuries, but all were taken to hospitals in Dayton.

Investigators don't believe drugs, alcohol or the weather played a role in the crash. They believe Heckert ran the red light and slamming into the minivan.
