One seriously hurt in Bellefontaine crash

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio —

Police said  Bellefontaine man was very seriously injured early Saturday morning in a crash in the 1200 block of Superior Street.

Officer Doug Walters said the driver, Tyson J. Walther, 31, was driving erratically and hit a parked pick-up truck. Walters said Walther was trapped and unconscious and was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital. He was then transferred to another hospital by medical helicopter.

Walther was driving a 1955 Chevrolet that he was in the process of restoring, according to police. Walters said the Chevrolet became lodged underneath a 2006 Dodge Dakota. He said the Chevrolet was a total loss while the Dodge suffered heavy damage.

Walters said Walther will be charged with failure to control, and other charges could be filed.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.
