Authorities have released the identity of a Preble County woman who was killed early Monday morning after her pick-up truck hit a tree on East Lexington Road.

Christine Wilkinson, 36, of Eaton, died in the crash at 2604 East Lexington Road around 1:30 a.m., according to reports.

Darke County Sheriff’s Capt. Dean Miller said that the truck was eastbound on Lexington Road, went off the left side into a field, and then came back on the highway and hit a tree.

He said the driver was trapped, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters used a mechanical device to extricate the victim.

Miller said the woman was wearing a seat belt. There are no signs that alcohol played a factor in the crash.
