PIQUA, Ohio —

A K-9 unit was used late Monday night to track a suspect who ran from his wrecked vehicle after being pursued by a state trooper.

The Ohio Highway Patrol set up a perimeter at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the area of North County Road 25-A and Interstate 75 in an area known as the Farrington interchange between Piqua and Troy.

A vehicle crashed after a brief pursuit by OSP and used a K-9 unit to track the driver who fled the crash, according to an OSP dispatcher. The search on foot and from the air was called off two hours later at 12:30 a.m.

About 10:30 Monday night a trooper attempted to stop the vehicle  on a traffic violation on I-75 at the southbound rest area near Piqua when the pursuit started and ended just as quick. It latest about a minute and reached a speed of 100 mph.

Troopers are looking for a short black male, wearing a dark hoodie. He was not located. Troopers believe the car was stolen from Lima.
