HUBER HEIGHTS —

A dog and cat died in an apartment fire Sunday night.

Firefighters were called to 6818 Brandt Pike for fire in a bedroom. Battalion Fire Chief Scott Hall said residents escaped the flames, and are being assisted by the American Red Cross with temporary shelter.

The cause remains under investigation.

Damage is estimated at $35,000. Hall said there was also smoke and heat damage throughout the eight-unit apartment building.
