Police: Impaired driver causes 4-vehicle crash

By Breaking News Staff

MONROE —

Police arrested a Middletown man after he reportedly caused a four-vehicle crash on Ohio 63 at the Interstate 75 interchange, according to reports.

Officers took David Thomas into custody after he allegedly drove the wrong way on Ohio 63 and struck several vehicles. Thomas was transported to the Warren County Jail and charged with OVI and numerous traffic violations, police said.

Thomas was driving east in the westbound lane of Ohio 63 at Main Street around 9:10 p.m. when he crashed into a vehicle attempting to enter I-75, according to police. Police said Thomas continued driving and struck another vehicle head on, which led to that vehicle striking another vehicle.

Two people were transported to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown to be treated for minor injuries.

Officers said Thomas was driving at a high-rate of speed at the time the crash occurred.

Traffic was diverted while crews worked to clean up the crash, police said.
