Staff Report
DAYTON —
A Dayton police officer was stabbed in the arm during a scuffle with a teenage suspect early Tuesday morning.
Officers responded to a report of a possible garage break-in near North Broadway Street and Yale Avenue, but found an argument going on in an alley, Lt. Donald Burden said.
A 16-year-old girl was found to have an outstanding warrant.
“They had the suspect on the ground attempting to handcuff her and she produced a small knife and stabbed the officer in the arm,” Burden said.
Officer Kari Staples was taken by patrol car to Miami Valley Hospital where she was treated and released.
The teen girl is facing possible charges of felonious assault.
21-year-old Jeremy Harris was also arrested after police say he attempted to flee the scene. He is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $750 bond pending a misdemeanor charge of obstructing official business.
His relationship to the teen is unknown.
Harris has previous felony convictions for grand theft of a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property from 2009.
