DAYTON —

Police recently arrested a 25-year-old man in connection to an ongoing homicide investigation.

Tarrell Postell was arrested Feb. 21 in the 4000 block of James H. McGee Boulevard on suspicion of felonious assault, Dayton police announced Monday.

Police said Postell was a player in a dice game that ended in a fatal shooting Feb. 20 at a vacant home being used for parties in the 2000 block of Ravenwood Avenue.

Police said an argument erupted during the game and shots were fired.

The victim, 29-year-old Jason Rutledge, died of a gunshot wound at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Police said Postell was reported to have a handgun at the game and attempted to shoot the victim’s brother. He is not charged in Rutledge’s death.

Police continue to investigate the homicide.
