Police raid suspected drug house near daycare

By Breaking News Staff

DAYTON —

Police raided a home Monday afternoon where heroin was being used, but not sold.

The raid was prompted in part by two separate traffic stops on Sunday that yielded 18 grams of cocaine, 8.5 grams of heroin and a total of $3,417.

A Dayton Sgt. Matt Beavers said those traffic stops were tied to a home in the 400 block of Burkhardt Avenue.

Patrols have increased recently in the area because there’s a new daycare center, Beavers said.

Police searched the home shortly after 5 p.m. Officers found syringes loaded with heroin and other evidence of drug activity, Beavers said.

Seven people were found inside. They told officers the house is not used for selling the illegal substance, but rather using it.

No arrests have been made. The home’s occupants were not allowed to return to the home.
