Police: woman lied about attack in Miamisburg

MIAMISBURG, Ohio —

A Miamisburg woman called for help after she said two men attacked and cut her. However, she is the one in jail.

The alleged stabbing happened Tuesday but police in Miamisburg said they now believe their victim was lying.

At first, many people in Miamisburg were concerned when they heard about the attack on Erica Morgan.

Kelsey Salsman said, "I think it's scary, like downtown Miamisburg, it's sad."

"The city of Miamisburg has nice people and you'd never think of anything happening like this," said Victoria Francis.

Police said Erica Morgan told them she had just left a salon on East Central when minutes later, she ran back inside and begged for someone to call 911.

"She made some allegations that she was injured with a knife," said detective Jason Threlkeld. "She was approached by two males at which time, one of them brandished some sort of weapon."

One of the men allegedly cut her on the leg. Officers said she even pointed out people that she claimed looked like her attackers.

Those men were put into handcuffs and detained.

Then today, Miamisburg police said it was the two men they questioned who did nothing wrong. It was the victim who accidentally cut herself.

Police let the men go and arrested Erica Morgan instead.

She was booked into jail on charges of inducing panic, obstructing official business, falsification and carrying a concealed weapon.

Detectives said Morgan made up the story because when she cut herself, she thought she would be in trouble for having the knife. Officers found that knife in the glove compartment of the woman's car.
