Power restored to all but four

DAYTON —

Dayton Power & Light customers on the west side of Dayton had a power outage late Friday night.

At 11 p.m. about 2,000 customers were affected by what DP&L called an equipment issue on a main line near the intersection of Gettysburg Avenue and West Third Street. At midnight that number had dropped to about 600 customers.

As of 8:20 p.m. Saturday evening, only 4 customers were still with0ut power.

DP&L said that the problem was with a cross-arm that broke. That caused an excess of current through a jumper line, which then burned open.

The utility hoped to have everyone back on line by morning.
