Power Outage Closes Dayton View Academy

DAYTON, Ohio —

A power outage Thursday morning forced Dayton View Academy to send students home.

Officials with Dayton Power and Light said the school was one of 2,400 customers that were affected by the outage.

Investigators said a car accident on Riverview was blamed for the power outage, causing a transformer to be knocked out.

The outage happened around 9:15 am., leaving the school’s administration to call parents and have their children picked up. The principal of the school was told by DP&L that it could be five to 12 hours before the transformer was repaired and the power be turned back on.

Officials with DP&L said power was restored in the area around 10:45 a.m. but the school remained closed.
